Goals check for the week of July 1

By Katharine Swan On Thursday, July 11, 2013 At 11:55 AM

I've been having such a productive week -- this week being my week off (and my week being home) -- that I haven't wanted to blog about last week.  Not that last week was bad, mind you, I just was on a roll and didn't want to take a break from that.

And actually, since I have limited time to work today, I want to squeeze as much work in as possible -- so let's give you the quick rundown so that I can get back to it.

1. Novels: Last week I managed to work on my novel every day except for Tuesday (when I had my riding lesson in addition to work) and Sunday (when I had massively overscheduled myself and had NO time during the day).  Revisions have been going pretty slow for the most part, since I am also resolving some significant research problems that I'd left notes for myself about when I marked the revisions to the beginning of the novel months ago.  I am trying to resolve everything on a page before I move on to the next one, so sometimes I don't get more than one page done in a day, depending on how much time I have and how much research I have to do to resolve the issues on the page.  Other pages, pages that consist mostly of making changes to the text, go faster, of course -- but there are a lot of research issues early in the novel, because I am establishing settings that will reappear again and again throughout the novel.

2. Blogs and websites: No progress yet.

3. Other writing projects: No progress yet.

4. Books: I've gone from one book about the 1920s to another, so I haven't gotten back to Les Miz yet.  I think I am going to shelve that expectation until after the novel's revisions are all finished.

5. Horses: I am sorry to say that the horses didn't get much attention last week.  I rode Rondo for my lesson on Tuesday, and V. rode Panama the same day (also for a lesson).  We were both planning on riding together on Saturday, but Panama had a horrible bite (from another horse) that was fresh and very swollen, in an area that would be further irritated by the saddle.  If we'd taken turns riding Rondo, we wouldn't have had much time to ride, so instead we walked both horses out into the park.  It wasn't riding practice, but it was great exposure for Rondo (only his second time out there) and good practice for V. (who wants to trail ride on Panama this summer).

So there's my week in a nutshell.  This week will be even more exciting to blog about, since I've made so much progress, so look for a post from me early next week!
