Summer begins

The kids I nanny for got out of school last Tuesday, but today is my first actual day of my summer schedule -- they had family in town end of last week, so they gave me the rest of the week off.  I wanted to get more done than I actually did -- freelancing, marketing, maybe even work on my novel a little -- but I didn't actually do that badly, either.  It's a start.

It's going to be a busy summer -- fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it.

On one hand, I'll be working a lot more than even my usual increased summer schedule -- still not full time, at least not for the family I nanny for, although I pick up enough other babysitting and freelancing that I think I most likely end up working more than full-time hours when all is said and done.  It's still more than it was last summer, though, and I'm not quite sure how it's going to work out.  I usually feel pretty busy all summer long, and completely drained by the time summer ends, so I think it will be even worse than usual this summer.

On the other hand, between the increased hours with the kids and the fact that I'm freelancing again, I'll be pulling in more money than I had been.  This is a very good thing, especially since at the moment I need the money more than I had previously.  In fact, that was what motivated me to start freelancing again -- necessity being the mother of invention, after all.

I'm sure I'll get through it, just as always happens when you have to face something you think is too difficult: At some point, you're standing on the other side, most likely fainting with relief that it's behind you now, if not wondering what it was about it that you thought was so impossible.  Nannying, babysitting, and freelancing are my priorities right now, so as long as I keep that in mind I'll be fine; however, I am hoping to squeeze in some time to work on my novel, too, especially in July when Camp NaNoWriMo is going on.

Hopefully in a week or two I'll have settled into my schedule enough to start feeling productive again, but right now, standing at the beginning of summer looking ahead at what's to come, it feels like it'll be a struggle to get everything done!
