Feast

By Katharine Swan On Monday, November 17, 2014 At 6:27 PM

Ironically, since it's been the first two weeks of NaNoWriMo, I've been super busy lately -- my freelance work picked up right at the beginning of the month.  With lots of deadlines, I've been struggling with keeping up on both my NaNo project and my blogs.  Nonfiction is proving to be much harder to write for NaNo than fiction, so even when I do get time (or make time) to write, it's slower going.  As I tell my NaNo friends, it makes a difference that I can't just make something up when I get stuck!

So in the sense of workload, it's a feast right now -- but I am also looking forward to it slowing down.  I want more time to work on my own projects, and time to spend with my horses and my new little buddy, a rat I got last week.

I'm sure I'll be wishing for the feast over the holidays, though, which is when my workload generally slowed down back when I freelanced full time.  Being busy now will make me appreciate the break more, though.  That's thing about freelancing -- you have to take the feast when it comes, because at some point the famine (at least in relative terms) will come, too.

So that, in a roundabout way, is my story of how I'm doing at NaNoWriMo this year: not great.  How about you?
