Some more changes to my schedule

About two months ago, the family I nanny for cut my hours back by nearly half -- from five afternoons a week to just three, and shorter afternoons all around.  I've been freelancing with my extra time, but I was in a situation this week where I was having to decide whether to take on a new family on Tuesdays and Thursdays (my off days).

I was delaying making the decision because I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do.  The extra income would be good, especially if I weren't sure whether I would be working for my other family much longer -- with the kids getting older, I wasn't sure whether they were going to start phasing out my role, or at least to the point where it's no longer a primary income source for me anymore.

Today, though, I got some news that changes all that.

The kids' father, who has been taking Tuesday and Thursday afternoons off (hence why they cut those days from my schedule), is going to switch to taking Fridays off instead.  This potentially means that I'll be switching to four afternoons a week instead of three.  I like this idea -- I think it'll balance nicely between the income that I used to have, and the days off that I've gotten used to.  Fridays are also my favorite day to have off -- if I have freelance work that I wasn't able to get done earlier in the week, it'll be a chance to catch up before the weekend, and if I don't, it'll be nice to relax before the weekend (which is usually as busy or busier for me than during the week).

I'm glad, because the Tuesday-Thursday job I was considering was really more hours than I needed, but it's hard to find a job with just a few hours here and there that's regular, too.  I want to make sure I still leave plenty of time for freelancing and my own projects, and working longer days would have made that more difficult.

I should know more in the next few days, so fingers crossed that it's all for the best!
