Camp NaNoWriMo follow-up

I didn't really do Camp NaNoWriMo this year.  The irony is my goal was to get back into the habit of writing every day, and I didn't manage it once.  First taxes, and then a few other things, including my birthday, kept me from it.

Luckily, there is another session of Camp in July, and I am hoping to have a little better luck then.  In the meantime, I have a few things to get into order so that the same thing doesn't happen again.

I've decided that I'm more likely to be able to juggle both client work and my own projects if I'm pretty well organized.  This means that the first thing on my to-do list before July's session is to finish getting caught up on admin stuff that I resolved to do after the last tax fiasco.  I'm tired of having to catch up on all my reporting for the year before I can do taxes, so I've been trying here and there to get caught up now (and then stay caught up).  I have a few things left to do with that to bring myself fully up to speed.

The other thing I desperately need to do is go through my emails.  My inbox is a train wreck.  I need to go through everything, file the work emails, respond to or deal with anything that's been waiting for an action.  I also need to go through my newsletters.  I have a bad habit of keeping newsletters I'll never read, so I need to either read them or get rid of them.

And finally, I need to get myself up to speed on my writing projects -- and decide what I want to accomplish during July -- before Camp begins.  This means refreshing my memory on each of my projects, reading or skimming what I've done so far, and reviewing any notes I'd made for myself last time I worked on those projects.

Maybe, if I can accomplish all of this before July rolls around, I can actually manage to get something done during the second session of Camp NaNoWriMo.

Gosh. That sounds so much like my own writing life. Without the NaNoWriMo and email backlog (I'm ruthless with email!) but the admin, juggling own and client projects? It's my neverending challenge.

Oh, and I need to get into a steady rhythm blogging.

I hear you, Damaria! A steady rhythm blogging is also one of my goals. I'm getting better, but I still seem to post in fits and starts.

I need some of your ruthlessness with email! It's good to know that I'm not the only one who struggles with client work vs. my own projects.
